Description
This image shows a student posing with a windmill sculpture she designed and built in the Art Department at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in the mid to late 1970s. The Boone windmill can be seen on top of Howard's Knob in the background. Originally part of the Division of Applied Arts, the Art Department was one of the first departments at Appalachian State, and is now housed under the College of Fine and Applied Arts. It includes concentrations in clay, drawing, fibers, metals/jewelry, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture.
