This image shows a procession of faculty and speakers in one of the campus gymnasiums for the presidential inauguration of Dr. Herbert Walter Wey in 1969 at Appalachian State University (1967-current). People are walking in a line in front of a row of bleachers, wearing caps and gowns. In the foreground is a woman in a white dress, followed by retired President William Howard Plemmons (1955-1969). Wey served as president/chancellor from 1969 to 1979. President Wey can be seen next to the last person in the line of marcher.
