This image shows a history class being held at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) during the 1950s. Professor Ina VanNoppen of the History Department can be seen standing behind a podium on the left, while students sit at desks on the right. VanNoppen taught history in the Department of Social Studies in 1947 until retiring in the late 1960s.
