Description

This image shows Appalachian State President Blanford Barnard Dougherty leaving a building at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) in 1955. Dougherty was co-founder and co-principal of Watauga Academy (1988-1903), superintendent of Appalachian Training School (1903-1925), and president of Appalachian State Normal School (1924-1929) and Appalachian State Teachers College until his retirement on June 30, 1955. A woman in seen leaving in the foreground. The building is possibly Welborn Cafeteria, built 1925.
