Description

This image shows Cratis Williams, professor of English, at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967). Williams began teaching at Appalachian State in 1942, and served as dean of the Graduate School from 1956 until 1975. He was acting chancellor for Academic Affairs in 1974, and served as assistant chancellor from 1976 to 1979, and interim chancellor following Herbert Walter Wey's retirement in 1979. He died in 1985.
