Description

This image shows a group of students and Dr. J. T. Wright observing as a man works on a machine at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967). Dr. Wright is seen second from the left. The Department of Mathematics and Physics included not only math courses, but courses on photography, heat and sound, electricity, magnetism, household physics, mechanics, and physics. Many hands-on physics and mechanical courses also included additional laboratory sessions. This image was taken in the mid-1950s. The partially obscured man standing in front of the window in the background is Dr. G.T. Buckland, Professor of Mathematics.
