This image shows a student speaking with former Appalachian State President William Howard Plemmons (1955-1969) outside Welborn Cafeteria, built 1925, before the May 1980 commencement ceremony at Appalachian State University (1967-current). Commencement ceremonies were held in Varsity Gymnasium since the building's completion in 1968.
