This image shows group of students standing outside the first Belk Library, built 1968, before the May 1980 commencement ceremony at Appalachian State University (1967-current). Students gathered outside to prepare for the processional and be organized in groups by college. Commencement ceremonies were held in Varsity Gymnasium since the building's completion in 1968.
