This image shows members of the faculty sitting in the Varsity Gymnasium, built 1968, watching the stage during the 1989 commencement ceremony at Appalachian State University (1967-current). Commencement ceremonies were held in Varsity Gymnasium since the building's completion in 1968. In the first row from left to right are Dr. Robert O'Block (Political Science), Dr. Fred Webb (Geology) and Dr. Ron Ensey (Mathematics). In the middle of the second row is Dr. Tom McGowan (English).
