This image shows the processional of academic professors and speakers walking towards the stage in Broome-Kirk Gymnasium, built 1955, at the beginning of the commencement ceremonies at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967), circa 1965. Graduating masters students can be seen standing in front of their chairs on the left, and students in black robes are sitting on bleachers on the right. Commencement was held in the Broome-Kirk Gymnasium until 1968. In the center foreground is Dr. Paul Sanders, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
