Description
This image shows people attending the Lions Club Carnival, held in the gymnasium at Appalachian High School (1938-1965) in Chapell Wilson Hall, built 1935, on the Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) campus in April 1954. People of varying ages stand on the left of a variety of booths separated by strings of crepe paper. The carnival included games of skill including bingo, shooting galleries, basketball, fishing, baseball, darts, and balloons, with prizes for winners, as well as clowns and a talent show. Appalachian High School was a joint venture between Appalachian State Teachers College and Watauga County Schools, wherein Watauga students would be taught by Appalachian State faculty and students. It was housed in Chapell Wilson Hall.
