Description

This image shows a group of people sitting in a circle in the gymnasium during the Lions Club Carnival, held at Appalachian High School (1938-1965) in Chapell Wilson Hall, built 1935, on the Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) campus in April 1954. The carnival included games of skill including bingo, shooting galleries, basketball, fishing, baseball, darts, and balloons, with prizes for winners, as well as clowns and a talent show. Appalachian High School was a joint venture between Appalachian State Teachers College and Watauga County Schools, wherein Watauga students would be taught by Appalachian State faculty and students. It was housed in Chapell Wilson Hall.
