Title

Appalachian High School, clubs, 1954

Description

This image shows members of an unidentified student organization at Appalachian High School (1938-1965) in a school bus at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) in 1954. A group of men stand on the top of the bus, tying cloth over luggage, while other students are sitting in the school bus. Appalachian High School was a joint venture between Appalachian State Teachers College and Watauga County Schools, wherein Watauga students would be taught by Appalachian State faculty and students. It was housed in Chapell Wilson Hall. In the background, D. D. Dougherty Library, built 1935, the second Administration Building, built 1924, and Smith-Wright Hall, built 1940, can be seen. This image appears in the 1954 Appalachian High School yearbook.
