White Residence Hall, 1958

Description

This image shows the southern (front) entrance of White Residence Hall, built 1924, at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967). White was a dormitory for women, housing up to 150 women, and included showers, baths, electric lights, and steam heat. It was located across from Welborn Cafeteria, built 1925, on the Promenade, and was demolished in 1968. Two students can be seen standing on the steps leading to the door. This image appears in the 1959 Rhododendron (p. 193).
