Rhododendron, 1958, "The Desire for Gaiety," photo 1
Description
This image shows a woman in an evening dress standing next to a man in a tuxedo in a room at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967). Three other students can be seen in formal dress in the background. This image was published in the 1958 Rhododendron (p. 7), with the title, "The Desire for Gaiety." It was part of an introductory series of images, reading, "A. S. T. C. is more than a school... it is a state of mind, the search for knowledge, the desire for gaiety, the determination to win, the will to serve, the need for recognition, and a time for humility." The Rhododendron was the student produced yearbook for Appalachian State since 1922 to 1992, and 2005 to 2006, when it ceased publication.
