Title

Rhododendron, 1958, "A State of Mind"

Description

This image shows President William Howard Plemmons (1955-1969), standing in his office looking out the window at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967). This image was published in the 1958 Rhododendron (p. 5), with the title, "It is a State of Mind." It was part of an introductory series of images, reading, "A. S. T. C. is more than a school... it is a state of mind, the search for knowledge, the desire for gaiety, the determination to win, the will to serve, the need for recognition, and a time for humility." The Rhododendron was the student produced yearbook for Appalachian State since 1922 to 1992, and 2005 to 2006, when it ceased publication.
