Convocation, 1958, spring, choir

This image shows the College Choir performing on stage in Broome-Kirk Gymnasium, built 1955, during spring convocation at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) on April 16, 1958. The Choir was directed by Mrs. Virginia Wary Linney. Convocation speakers are seen sitting in front of the Choir, and the College Band sits at the base of the stage. Audience members can be seen in the foreground. Spring convocation included attendance by the State Board of Education and a speech by J. Harris Purks, the executive secretary of the Board.
