This image shows President William Howard Plemmons (1955-1969) walking east of the second Administration Building, built 1924, with members of the State Board of Education before spring convocation at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) on April 16, 1958. Spring convocation included attendance by the State Board of Education, and a speech by J. Harris Purks, the executive secretary of the Board.
