Title

Bookstore, first, new addition

Description

This image shows the new extension of the College Bookstore, built 1934, on September 23, 1958, at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967). The addition allowed for expanded room for merchandise, books, and added snack bar for students. The College Bookstore had occupied the building at the corner of Locust St. and College Ave. since 1934. In addition to renting and selling textbooks, it also provided Appalachian State merchandise, supplies, and refreshments, while the second floor provided space for three apartments. In 1967, the building was demolished to make way for a new, larger University Bookstore, completed in 1969.
