This image shows a boy working with a device to magnify text from a book, aided by Uberto Price, director of Reading Services, in the Reading Center at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) on January 25, 1957. The Reading Center provided diagnostic and remedial services for Appalachian students and the region in general. It also served as a laboratory for students in the teacher preparation program.
