Description

This image shows the Junior High Drum Majorettes performing on King Street in Boone, NC, on September 30, 1957. Six young girls in white shirts, dark shorts, and white cowboy boots, are seen twirling batons, while the girl in the front left drops hers. Onlookers can be seen on the left, standing around parked cars, and a marching band can be seen in the background. Majorettes were students from the Appalachian Elementary School, also known as the Demonstration Elementary School run by Appalachian State and Watauga County Schools.
