This image shows a group of attendees of the commencement ceremony at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in May 1978. On the left is former President William Howard Plemmons (1955-1969), legistator and former Board of Trustees member Dwight Quinn is third from the right, and Chancellor Herbert Walter Wey (1969-1979) is second from the right. Commencement was held in the Varsity Gymnasium, built 1968. From the left are President Emeritus William H. Plemmons, Dr. Hugh Daniel, Mr. Bob Allen, Mr. F. P. Bodenheimer, Mr. Dwight Quinn, Chancellor Herbert W. Wey and Mr. William Rankins. Dr. Daniel, Mr. Bodenheimer and Mr. Rankins are members of the Board.
