This image shows a faculty member at Appalachian State speaking at commencement ceremonies at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in August 1977. Commencement was held at the Varsity Gymnasium, built 1968. Standing at the podium is Dr. Robert Maxon, Dean of the College of Learning and Human Development. seated on the right is Dr. William C. Strickland, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Seated next to Dr. Strickland is Chancellor John E. Thomas.
