This image shows the first five graduates of the Industrial Arts Department in 1963, dressed in caps and gowns, posing in front of a wall in Kerr Scott Hall, built 1961, at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967). The Industrial Arts Department began in 1958, when money for the building was appropriated, and it began offering courses in 1961. Its first graduates were produced in 1963.
