This image shows part of a student toy exhibit during the Bicentennial Celebrations in 1976. Items are arranged in the display case at the University Bookstore, built 1969, at Appalachian State University (1969-current). This display was part of a student display competition. Newspaper-covered boxes read, "100 Years of..." and display includes a collection of toys, such as a teddy bear, a soldier helmet, a corncob pipe, and a wooden gun. The United States Bicentennial was celebrated on Sunday, July 4, 1976, the 200th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence.
