This image shows two members of the ROTC Department raising the flag in front of the B. B. Dougherty Administration Building, built 1968, during the Bicentennial celebration in 1976 at Appalachian State University (1969-current). The United States Bicentennial was celebrated on Sunday, July 4, 1976, the 200th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence.
