Satie Hunt Broyhill and Family, 1930

Description

This image shows Satie Hunt Broyhill and her family in 1930, posing in front of a car, including her husband J. E. Broyhill, children Bettie, James, Paul, and Allene. Satie Hunt Broyhill was an alumnus and lifelong contributor to the University. She studied music Appalachian Training School (1903-1925) and graduated in 1918. In addition to financial contributions, she served on the Board of Trustees during the 1950s and 1960s. Contributions helped fund the Broyhill Inn and Conference Center, built 1972, and the Satie Hunt Broyhill Music Center, dedicated in 1983. She died in 1998 at age 96.
