Title

Placement Office, career assistance

Description

This image shows four people at a desk in the Placement Office at Appalachian State University (1967-current), standing in the Administration Building Annex, built 1932, now Founder's Hall. Two women are seated at a table looking at books, while two men assist them. Second from the left is Dr. Robert Randall, Director of the Placement Office. A bookcase can be seen in the background, bearing a poster reading, "What in the world does a librarian do?" The Office of Placement and Career Development primarily existed to help alumni and graduating students to locate jobs. It used connections with other universities, state and local governments, and industries to provide students with updates on job vacancies, certification and license requirements, and examinations. It also offered computer placement services and arranged interviews.
