Title

Laundry Services, Cannon Hall, photo 1

Description

This image shows the laundry pickup room at Cannon Hall, built 1968, at Appalachian State University (1967-current). Residents were instructed to put their laundry in bags, with special dry cleaning materials on hangers, to be picked up by the Campus Laundry for cleaning. Students paid a fee each semester for laundry service. Eventually token laundry services were offered by the University Bookstore for student use. Laundry services also served departmental needs and offered a drop-off-pick-up service for off-campus students. It operated out of the Service Annex, built 1949, and ceased operation in the early 1990s.
