Title

Playcrafters, "Sight Unseen," 1953, photo 2

Description

As part of the May Day festivities, the Playcrafters, the dramatic club at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967), would put on a play, cast from the entire student body. In May 1953, the play was "Sight Unseen," a story about a young woman who inherits a haunted mansion, and tries to sell it while battling with ancestral ghosts. This image shows the part of the cast of the play posing in costume on stage, including three women surrounding a man on a couch. Seated on the floor to the right is possibly student Katherine Langely, who played the main part of "Judith Elliot," the young woman who inherits the mansion.
