This image shows four 1953 Mountaineers football players on the Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) football field, known as College Field, located south of the Administration Building, built 1924, approximately where Rankin Science Hall was later built in 1963. From left to right are Jack Groce, Jim Everidge, Ray Triplett, and John Garwood. Jack Groce was for several years an Assistant Football Coach at Appalachian. The John A. Garwood Hall (formerly the CAP Building) is named for John Garwood.
