Description
This image shows the 1953 Mountaineers football players on the Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) football field, known as College Field, located south of the Administration Building, built 1924, approximately where Rankin Science Hall was later built in 1963. Newland Hall, built 1939, can be seen in the background, and the top of the Arts and Crafts Building, also known as the Industrial Arts Building, built 1917, can be seen to the left. This image shows the Mountaineers gathered in the center of the field with two referees in front of a crowd of people sitting on the stands behind them.
