Description

This image shows Lillie Shull Dougherty and her two eldest children, Clara Bartlett Dougherty, born 1898, and Annie Lewis Dougherty, born 1903. Lille Shull Dougherty was married to Watauga Academy (1899-1903) co-founder and co-principal Dauphin Disco Dougherty and taught music classes at Watauga Academy, as well as serving as business manager and treasurer of Appalachian after her husband's death, from 1929 to 1938. Both children attended Appalachian Training School (1903-1925).
