This image shows John Workman, professor in the Department of Social Studies at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) in the 1950s. He can be seen tacking a piece of paper to a bulletin board. Workman began teaching at Appalachian State in 1946 and retired in 1959, although he continued teaching through April 1960.
