This image shows some members of the Department of Social Studies at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) in the 1960s. Seen in the first row are sociology professor Alfred Denton, geography professor Terry Epperson, and department chairman Julian Yoder. The Department of Social Studies was separated into the Departments of History, Political Science, Geography and Geology, and Sociology in the mid-1960s.
