This image shows Daniel Jay Whitener sitting at his desk in his office in the second Administration Building, built 1924, at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) in the 1960s. He can be seen talking on the phone. Whitener taught history and social studies at Appalachian State since 1932, and served as dean of the College from 1955 to 1964.
