This image shows Borden Mace, director of the Appalachian Consortium at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in the 1970s. He was appointed to the position in October 1972. Founded in 1971, the Appalachian Consortium was a non-profit organization of Appalachian universities and other educational organizations whose goal was to promote and preserve Appalachian culture and heritage.
