Homecoming Floats, 1964, photo 4

This image shows a float being decorated for use in the Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) Homecoming Parade in October 1964. The float reads, "Spirits of Appalachian," and two students can be seen standing by a makeshift distillery. A pile of boxes are in the foreground and other people are standing in the background. Homecoming was an annual event that included dramatic performances, a parade, a dance, a football game, reunion activities, and the crowning of the Homecoming queen.
