Title

Homecoming Parade, 1966, photo 2

Description

This image shows a float in the Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) Homecoming parade driving down a street in October 1966. Four women are seen standing on the float in various costumes around a model of the Earth. The side of the float reads, "Appalachian serving the world," and includes the Greek letters for Phi Beta Lambda, the collegiate division of the Future Business Leaders of America, and Pi Omega Pi, the national business education teachers honor society. Homecoming was an annual event that included dramatic performances, a parade, a dance, a football game, reunion activities, and the crowning of the Homecoming queen.
