This image shows the Art Guild float in the Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) Homecoming parade going down King Street in Boone, NC, in October 1965. Students can be seen dressed as Egyptian slaves pulling a float shaped like a sphinx. Belk's and Hunt's department stores can be seen in the background. Homecoming was an annual event that included dramatic performances, a parade, a dance, a football game, reunion activities, and the crowning of the Homecoming queen. This image appears in the October 28, 1965 edition of "The Appalachian" (p. 5).
