Description

This image shows members of the Marching Band at Appalachian State University (1967-current) practicing at Conrad Stadium, built 1962, in 1972. A student can be seen playing a saxophone in the foreground. Band members can be seen sitting on the ground holding instruments and one player stands behind a tuba, while a staff member stands on the right. The Marching Band was originally started by Professor Gordon Nash in 1939 and was managed by the Department of Music. They performed routinely at parades and athletic events during the academic year.
