Alpine Ski Team, 1986, photo 2

This image shows some of the members of the Appalachian State ski club, the Alpine Ski Team, standing at the bottom of a slope during a race in 1986. The ski team at Appalachian State first appeared during the 1969-1970 school year. In 1985-86, it consisted of twenty-seven Appalachian State University students and was partially funded by the Alpine Ski Center and fundraising efforts. It received no direct funding or endorsement from the University due to the risk of liability and injury. The Alpine Ski and Snowboarding teams are now official Appalachian State clubs and are part of University Recreation. This image appears in the 1986 Rhododendron (p. 320).
