Description

This image shows five of the professors for the Cannon Music Camp at Appalachian State University (1967-current) standing behind a piano and holding instruments in the late 1960s. William Spencer, chairman of the Department of Music, can be seen standing on the right. The Cannon Music Camp began in 1969 and focused providing intensive group and individual training in performance and music theory. Recitals and concerts are performed regularly throughout the summer. Standing from left to right are Dr. Jack Newton, Dr. Phillip Paul, unknown, unknown and Dr. William Spencer. All of the identified men are Professors in the Department of Music.
