Description
This image shows the Appalachian State University (1967-current) employees who were SEANC members in the mid-1970s. They are seen standing on the Promenade in front of Watauga Hall, built 1929. The State Employees Association of North Carolina (SEANC) started in 1940 to provide representation for state employees in the North Carolina General Assembly, and held its first convention in 1947. The organization promoted increased salaries, retirement plans, health plans, and the addition of the Friday after Thanksgiving as an employee holiday. On the far right of the first row is Mr. Wes Weaver. Third from the left on the second row is Ms. Ruth Ann Cook. On the far right of the first row is Ms. Vera Richardson. Next to her is Ms. Marjorie Baumbaugh. On the second row and second from the far right is Ms. Nina Martin.
