Description

This image shows Annie Dougherty Rufty next to a chest being donated to the Department of Home Economics in the College of Fine and Applied Arts at Appalachian State University (1967-current) on November 11, 1975. Another man is seen sitting on the right and a picture of Lillie Shull Dougherty is seen hanging above the chest. The Department of Home Economics is now the Family and Consumer Sciences Department and provides graduate and undergraduate programs in child development, nutrition, apparel and textiles, and family and consumer sciences. It is housed in Lillie Shull Dougherty Hall, built 1962.
