The Department began in the fall of 1969 and houses the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC). It is located in the College of Fine and Applied Arts and offers two-year programs in leadership and military training with no obligation of future military service, and an additional two-year program that results in a commission as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserve or the Army National Guard. The man standing on the right is Dr. James Jackson, Dean of the College of Continuing Education.
