This digital exhibit and document repository developed from a physical exhibit by the same title on display in 2013 at Belk Library and Information Commons, Appalachian State University, Boone, North Carolina.  This 2018 digital version has been greatly expanded and developed through the help of several individuals, and it contributes to the Spring 2018 Black Mountain College Semester at Appalachian State University.

Special thanks to Joseph Bathanti, North Carolina Poet Laureate and Professor of Creative Writing at Appalachian State University, for his vision and guidance in both of these Black Mountain College exhibits.

The physical and digital exhibits were managed and curated by Greta Browning, Reference Archivist/Librarian in Special Collections, Belk Library and Information Commons, at Appalachian State University, Boone, North Carolina.

Thanks also to Rebecca Dion, Master's in Public History ('13), who researched and produced the physical exhibit by this title.

In 2017, several student assistants helped turn the physical exhibit into this digital exploration: Holland McLean, Liv Winnicki, and Emma Parish.  Kelsey Wagner, project manager of the Black Mountain College Semester at Appalachian State University in Spring 2018, also contributed additional document selections.

Thanks also to the Center for Appalachian Studies for spearheading the Black Mountain College Semester and supporting this digital exhibit and document repository.

Finally, we are indebted to the intellectual copyright holders who gave permission for these works to be displayed publicly.
