This student enjoyed life at the school, because it allowed her to feel a part of a community of “interesting and intelligent people.” The progressive learning style suited many of the students who had become disenchanted, as Rice had been, with conventional schools.

Unlike Francesca Livermore's opinion, this student had a more negative view of his or her class. The student affirms disgust towards the teacher’s imperialistic methods. Like students, Black Mountain College faculty also had freedom in their classrooms because of the school’s structure.
