This image shows a student reading out of a textbook in a laboratory classroom in the Department of Chemistry at Appalachian State University (1967-current) during the 1980s. Other students can be seen in the background. The Department of Chemistry exists within the College of Arts and Sciences, and aims to provide training for future chemists, basic understanding of the principles of chemistry, and chemistry teachers. The Department has been accredited by the American Chemical Society.
