This image shows Professor George Miles demonstrating the use of laboratory equipment to a student in a laboratory classroom in the Department of Chemistry at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) during the mid-1960s. The Department of Chemistry exists within the College of Arts and Sciences, and aims to provide training for future chemists, basic understanding of the principles of chemistry, and chemistry teachers. The Department has been accredited by the American Chemical Society.
